It centres around four sisters? It would seem that they're changing the storyline a bit too.
Who does CBS market towards? I know the CW channel is mainly for teens and FX is for adult viewers. Fox and ABC seem to be a bit of a mix from what I've seen of the programs but I don't think I've watched anything on CBS to know their market.

They're definitely redoing the story - it's a reboot with new actresses playing the sisters and in order to do that, you'd have to do the story differently.
But we may be reading that article wrong - it may be talking about the original series being about four sisters - Prue, Piper, Phoebe and Paige. Hopefully they'd start with three.
No, hopefully they don't do it at all - it's much too soon for others to play the sisters. Totally different than fan-written reboots when we can still imagine Shannen, Holly, Alyssa and Rose playing the sisters.

Personally I'd prefer if they'd do a sequel rather than a reboot.
Now that Holly is no longer part of "Pretty Little Liars", I'd love to see them do something that includes Piper the way they included Kelli (and Brenda) in the Beverly Hills 90210 sequel, "90210".
But I wouldn't want it to include her kids, except *as* kids. She's not old enough to play someone old enough to have grownup kids and I doubt if she'd want to have makeup every year (it's different here, because we can imagine the sisters as older). I'd prefer if she found a different set of sisters who she could help become Charmed, ones with different powers and different relationships and different rules.

Certainly interesting. I would also prefer a spin-off/sequel, but I would definitely check out a reboot. Whether I would watch it past the first episode would depend on how they handled it.

I've recently heard of another show with a Charmed/Desperate Housewives style. It's about witches that live on the same street, by the sounds of things. Since I actually didn't mind Desperate Housewives, until the last couple of seasons when I rolled my eyes at the storylines, I might check that one out. It starts soon over here but I now can't remember the name--gonna have to do some digging.

Yeah, witches seem to be the big thing right now - that's probably why CBS wants to reboot Charmed - make some money off of it while they can.
The show you're talking about is "Witches of East End". From what I've seen, the only thing it has in common to Charmed is that it's about a family of witches - and if they follow the books, they aren't even truly that. A number of Charmed fans who watched the premiere thought it was very similar to Charmed (but nowhere near as good, which I found hilarious, since it reminded me of all the times that Charmed has been compared to Buffy with Charmed always ending on the short end), but have since stopped watching it.

I am currently watching it as it has kept my attention enough at present. It is the only "freshman" show I am watching, although there is another that I am interested in and just haven't checked out yet. I'm not really sure if it can keep my attention for a full season, but there was a comment in one of Freya's dreams that keeps me watching and the latest one was interesting even if I wasn't too thrilled with the end result. At present I like Wendy and Killian best of the main characters, but that does tend to hop about, so who knows what I will think a few weeks from now. I don't really hate Dash (Freya's "perfect" fiancé) any more. I wonder how many people's first reaction to him was such a strong dislike as I initially took. I honestly don't see how it is very similar to Charmed, because the only similiarity I saw was they are family (two sister and the two adult daughters of one of the sisters) and that they are witches, but certainly not the kind of witches we saw on Charmed, so even that is different. I think, as with Buffy and Charmed, it is too different to really compare them, but people will. They always will.

Saw this on another site. If they were truly going to do a reboot with the same name for the sisters, this version might actually work:
